The way of loyalty and forgiveness, the Dharma of Kongmen's practice

Almost all of us have this kind of person: high school is extremely good, to the university but nothing to do, he is really not interested in the major, and do not know what he really like, so he began to skip classes, play games all night, and finally drop out.

Why is this? Our education is too much just pay attention to the development of intelligence, and now some parents are even more so, wish that their children don't do anything, as long as they focus on reading, resulting in some children although the grades are very good, but there is a great lack in moral, moral, personality and other aspects.

If Confucius had seen the modern parenting style, his jaw would have dropped. We mentioned earlier that Confucius said, "If you have the power to do, you can learn literature", that is, before learning culture, there is a lot of preparation. What are they? Confucius said, "Disciples, when they enter, they are filial, when they leave, they are fraternical, they are sincere, they love the people, and they love benevolence." If you have the power to do something, you can learn it."

You must first learn to honor your parents at home, respect your brothers outside, be prudent and trustworthy, be friendly with everyone extensively, and be close to virtuous people. In this way, I still have the spare power to learn mathematics, physics and chemistry. In the view of Confucius, before learning, we must first repair our moral character and establish a good foundation for being a man. Confucianism stresses the importance of self-cultivation, family governance and world peace, and self-cultivation is a necessary condition for family harmony, state governance and world peace.

The core concept of Confucius' theory is benevolence. What is benevolence? Confucius to the most proud disciple Yan Hui explained: to restore the ritual is benevolence. That is to restrain oneself, so that words and deeds can meet the requirements of etiquette, which is benevolence. He also detailed the specific practices, "do not see, do not hear, do not speak, do not move," that is, do not see, do not listen, do not say, do not do things that do not conform to the rules.

Confucius also gave a relatively low understanding of the student Fan Chi explained what is benevolence, the answer is very simple, benevolence love. So how do we do that? "Be respectful at home, respectful at deacons, and loyal to others," that is to say, be respectful at home, be careful and prudent in handling affairs, and be faithful and sincere to others.

It's still a bit much. Is there a simpler rule? Disciple Zi Gong asked, "Who has a word and can practice it all his life?" Confucius replied, "I forgive you! Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Confucius believed that forgiveness is a lifelong principle of self-cultivation. However, it should be noted that the forgiveness here is not forgiveness, but comparing heart to heart, using one's own heart to infer the heart of others, the basic principle is "do not do to others what you do not want", and do not impose what you do not want on others.

As the saying goes, "To err is human." How to deal with mistakes is the key to self-improvement. Confucius warned his disciples to "see the wise and think alike, see the bad and introspection also", see the wise, they should want to look up to him; If you see a person who is not virtuous, you should reflect on yourself.

But there are not many people who can really do it, so Confucius said with emotion, "It is almost done, I have not seen anyone who can see their own mistakes and blame themselves from the heart." Disciple Zeng Zi was very touched by the teacher's words, and he should do "three times a day I examine my body" and reflect on it many times a day.

Confucius himself was very good at self-reflection and corrected his mistakes. Someone once asked Confucius, Did Duke Zhao of Lu know the rites? Confucius, taking into account the status and position of Duke Zhao of Lu, replied that he knew the rites. People later said to his disciples: A gentleman should not be partial to others. Duke Zhao of Lu violated the etiquette of "no marriage with the same surname" and married a Wu woman with the same surname Ji, and called her "Wu Mengzi" in order to hide her ugliness. If he knows etiquette, who doesn't? The disciple told this to Confucius, and Confucius did not get angry because he had made a fool of himself in front of his disciples, but said very sincerely: "Qiu is lucky, if there is a mistake, people will know about it."

It can be seen that Confucius values self-cultivation very much. However, cultivation is important, work is more important. It is not enough to be a moral gentleman, a gentleman must also learn to make a living. So, how did Sage Kong live?
